PENALTY POINTS


Drivers who receive 12 penalty points within a 3 year period will be disqualified from driving for 6 months.

THE ALLOCATION OF PENALTY POINTS INCLUDES:-

• Speeding Offences: 2- 4 points
• Failure to wear a seatbelt: 2- 4 points
• Driving without insurance (if not disqualified by a Court): 5 points
• Careless driving (which can be issued at the roadside): 5 points
• As of the 1st of November 2004 the offence of driving while using a hand held mobile phone has not yet been added to this List however, when added it will carry 1/3 penalty points: 1-3 points
